Monteriggioni Castle and its Countryside
Monteriggioni is famous for its imposing city walls, quoted even by Dante Alighieri in the Divine Comedy. With this tour I want to accompany you in the discovery of the beauty and the history of this small jewel, but also of its surrounding countryside. We’ll go along part of the Via Francigena entering the woodlands of the Montagnola Senese to reach places soaked in history, from the Etruscans to the second World War. We’ll also visit one of the oldest and best-preserved abbeys in the area and walk on the bed of a vanished lake…
