WHO I AM

ERICA MASINI

I was born and bred in the medieval town of San Gimignano, and now I live in the Florentine Chianti countryside. I’m half Tuscan and half Scots!

I have been working as a hiking guide since 2016 and as a tour guide since 2018.I chose this profession after having spent 10 years working in the foreign commerce office in a design firm, a job which allowed me to develop my skills in customer care and also to travel in the sphere of the fairs in that sector. My greatest desire, however, was that of being able to live as much as possible outdoors, to come in contact with different people, broaden my knowledge, put myself to the test and create my own activity.

My prime objective was that of becoming a hiking guide, then my passion for art led me to become a tourist guide too.

I love my work because it’s never monotonous, it allows me to visit new places, study their history and traditions and to live surrounded by beauty; should it be a museum, a small village, the countryside or woodland.

In the last few years, I’ve continued my formation to specialize more in slow and eco friendly tourism, and in activities connected with wellbeing and outdoor experiences, because I firmly believe that the care of the environment in which we live, a rediscovery of an innate connection with nature and a healthy life style are at the basis of the mental and physical wellbeing of a person. For this reason, I qualified as a guide in Forest Bathing and am now following a course in Mindfulness Facilitation and as an Operator in Pet Therapy with donkeys.

As soon as I reach one of my goals, I already have the next one in mind, at the moment my biggest dream is that of managing to have my own small farm (obviously with donkeys!) surrounded by beautiful woodlands, and propose all my activities to whoever would like to visit it.
